Havas PR has announced several additions to its executive team. Melanie Klausner joined the New York office as senior VP to counsel corporate and consumer clients. Before joining Havas PR, Klausner was a VP at Finn Partners, managing New York State’s I LOVE NY tourism campaign. Stephanie Clarke, who has been with the firm since 2012, has been promoted to VP in Havas Southwest. She will oversee consumer and lifestyle accounts across the country. And Ellen Mallernee Barnes has been promoted to VP of content after six years of “permalancing” with Havas PR from Nashville.

As sexual harassment scandals multiply, parents rethink how they raise their children

A shift in attitudes away from rigid gender restrictions—as uncovered by a recent Havas survey—is being reflected by retailers as well, Havas CEO Marian Salzman tells MarketWatch. “We are a country in transition,” she said. “The retail landscape is starting to reshape perspectives on what is ‘boy’ and what is ‘girl.’ The groundswell is toward this a-gender lifestyle where gender is something people can pick and choose.” The September survey of 12,000 people across 32 countries found that 61 percent of women and 46 percent of men believe children should be raised in as gender-neutral a way as possible.

Now that sleeping well is the new fashion, “intelligent” devices have crossed the final frontier: our rest, according to this article by Spanish newspaper El Pais. The piece quotes New York Times writer Penelope Green, who cited the predictions of Havas PR CEO Marian Salzman in a recent article. “If sleep used to be the new sex, as Marian Salzman, a trendspotter and chief executive of Havas PR North America, proclaimed 10 years ago, today it is a measure of success—a skill to be cultivated and nourished—as a ‘human potential enhancer.’”

Stacey Simon, a 10-year veteran of healthcare communications, has joined Havas PR’s Pittsburgh office as an account supervisor. Simon will focus on several health-related accounts including LivaNova. Most recently, Simon served as the social media and wellness marketing lead for United Concordia Dental.
