To explore how the evolution of influence and trendspotting impacts brands today, HYPR’s Ryan Berger, Estée Lauder Companies’ Joy Peabody and Haute & Co. Bridal’s Shannelle Armstrong will participate in a Havas PR-moderated panel

NEW YORK CITY (Feb. 28, 2018)—Award-winning New York-based earned media and buzz agency Havas PR will host a Trendspotting in the Last 15 Years panel on Thursday, March 15, at SXSW 2018 in Austin, Texas. Havas PR CEO Marian Salzman will moderate a panel of internationally renowned experts on trendspotting and influence at the Fairmont Austin (101 Red River Street) from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

In a discussion that promises to be both instructive and entertaining, panelists Ryan Berger, partner at influencer marketing group HYPR, Joy Peabody, director of global consumer engagement for the Estée Lauder Companies, and Shannelle Armstrong, founder and chief stylist at Haute & Co Bridal, will explore what makes an idea, person or trend take off, as well as how the role of influence has changed from the analog era (2003) to today (2018).

“‘Influencer’ no longer refers only to the Kim Kardashians of the world; the possibility of influence has expanded to Average Joes with blogs, vlogs and social media accounts,” says Marian Salzman, Havas PR CEO. “Now that we’re fully immersed in the influencer movement, social media celebrities are transforming marketing as we know it, enabling virality and making trendspotting all the more vital for brands. We look forward to using this panel to discuss the new opportunities that brands have to grow their followings and influence by getting ahead of trends.”

Having brought “metrosexual”—an American Dialect Society Word of the Year—and many other trends to the zeitgeist, Havas PR abides by the mantra “Don’t just be in the news, be the news.” This way of thinking and working reflects the agency’s passion for deciphering what the future holds, then crafting the next headline to make the future belong to its clients. At the end of each year, Havas PR releases a widely read trends forecast, and last year it published “Agile PR: Expert Messaging in a Hyper-Connected, Always-On World,” a book celebrating the many ways that public relations has evolved into the most agile of the communication arts.

A registered SXSW badge is required for admission to this panel. Reserve your spot by RSVPing to
